April Ross

April Ross has won more than one Olympic gold medal. Ross is among a few female beach volleyball players who be able to do so. She will be competing in Tokyo for her 3rd Olympic medal alongside Alix Klineman, a first time Olympian. But more than that, Ross is aiming to capture the first Olympic gold. It may well be that this is her only chance, at 39 years old. But she's confident top awards are in reach. Ross stated to NBC Boston that if they play their best, or even a good game and they are able to play well, the team will be able to win the gold medal. In addition, I'll try the chance to have luck. Ross was born on August 22nd, 1982 at Costa Mesa California. She lived there with her family. In Newport Harbor High School, she played in a variety of sports. Her prep athletic career included indoor volleyball along with basketball, track and running. However she was clearly superior to the rest when it came to the second sport. In her time at high school, she was a middle blocker outside hitter and setter on the volleyball court, according to her college bio. Gatorade Circle Of Champions named her the national Player 1999. The skills she showed in volleyball also earned her an Orange County Athlete of the Years trophy in the year 2000. Ross and Klineman may have started working together in the year 2017, however Ross was an experienced athlete at the beach prior to when they joined forces. Actually, Ross has won several major tournaments in her career along with her two teammates. One is a volleyball legend. Jennifer Kessy was her partner during six years from 2007 to 2013. Also, she coached Klineman and herself. Along together with Kessy Ross, she won the World Championship in 2009 while competing in the international circuit. The duo would go into winning a silver at the 2012 Olympic Games at London. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the team to beat for the gold. Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor when she retired. They were able to win bronze in beach volleyball in the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross competed for USC Trojans in her college years before becoming a professional. The Trojans had a great run for Ross at the university. In 2000, as a freshman she fought her way to Pac-10 and NCAA Freshman of the Year awards and was an All-American. The Trojans also reached the Final Four. Her sophomore year was the time she experienced a devastating personal setback but managed to be a second All-American. Over her final 2 seasons with the Trojans program, she coached the Trojans to winning a national title every time. Individually she had cemented herself as an all-time legend by winning the 2003-2004 Honda Sports Award as the most outstanding female college volleyball player. Ross majored in the field of international relations in USC. Margie Ross was not able to see Ross become the highest beach volleyball levels. Ross suffered the loss of the breast cancer that she battled in 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. She continues to cherish her late parent. Margie is a source of inspiration throughout her life, as well as on the beach.
