April Ross
April Ross was one of the few female beach volleyball players who have won medals at several Olympics. She is set to compete in Tokyo for her third Olympic gold medal along with Alix Klineman, who is a first time Olympian. Ross also hopes to get her very first Olympic gold. At 39, this could be her last opportunity to claim an Olympic gold. Nevertheless, she remains convinced of winning top awards. Ross on NBC Boston, said that if the team plays consistently or well they could win a gold. In addition, I'll try the chance to have chance. Ross was born in 1982 and was raised within Costa Mesa California with her mother and sister, first began participating in sports at Newport Harbor High school. In addition to participating in a variety of sports, Ross also attended Newport Harbor High School. The prep sports she played included indoor volleyball as well as basketball, track and running. In the last sport she stood out. Based on her bio, she was an outside blocker as well as a middle hitting volleyball player during her high-school career. For her efforts she was awarded an 1999 Gatorade Circle of Champions National Player of the Year. Her volleyball skills also brought her an Orange County Athlete of the Awards in the year 2000. While Ross Klineman and Ross are in the spotlight from 2017 onward, the former had already been a major participant on the beaches even before the pair formed. As a matter of fact Ross has been a winner of several major tournaments in her career with two partners. One of them is a volleyball legend. Jennifer Kessy was her partner for six years, between 2007 and 2013. She also worked with Klineman as well as herself. Kessy's teammate Ross, who was the winner of the world championship with Kessy in 2009, was also significant on the an international level. The pair eventually picked up a silver medal in the 2012 Olympic Games in London. They were knocked out of the gold by the legendary team comprised of Misty May-Treanor as well as Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings became Walsh Jennings partner in fate as Maytreanor resigned. They both went on to take home the bronze beach volleyball trophy in the Rio Olympics 2016. They were joined by Walsh Jennings. Ross was a college player with the Trojans of USC prior to starting her professional career. She played during high school, and even years prior to hitting the beach professionally. Her career was a success during her time in the college. She was an All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of the Year when she was a teen freshman. In addition, she helped her Trojans to reach the Final Four. The Trojans were devastated by a personal tragedy during her second year, but she managed to become an All-American again. Through her last two years within the team, she guided the Trojans up to the summit netting three consecutive championships at the national level. In 2003-2004, she was named as the most successful female volleyball player at a collegiate level in America by The Honda Sports Award. Ross was an international relations major at USC. Sadly, Ross mother Margie never got to see her daughter ascend to the top levels of beach volleyball stardom. Ross's mother passed away from breast cancer when she was a sophomore in USC. Her mother is still dear. Margie continues to be a source of inspiration, both off and on of the beach.
