Dolly-Parton

Born on Jan. 19th, 1946, in Locust Ridge Tenn into a low-income family that would ultimately consist of 12 children Dolly Parton learned early to escape the hardships of living through her vibrant and broad imagination. Prior to learning how to read and write, Dolly Parton was creating her own music. Within 8 years she got her first guitar. At age 11 when she was 11, she began singing at the Knoxville Tennessee radio station. In the following year, she made her debut album on Gold Band Records an independent small label. While she was popular in the local scene while she was at high school, her dreams were much bigger. The day she graduated the high school in 1964. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Around this time, Porter Wagoner was looking for a new girl singer for the show he had syndicated to television. Parton was a part of the Grand Ole Opry 1969 after contracting to RCA Records. She left Wagoner's show, however, in 1974 because her solo albums like Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene beat out their collaborative albums. Parton's song, I Will Never Be Loved by You (for Wagoner), hit the No. #1 spot following their separated. The first time it reached the top spot was in 1974.
