Walker went to Germantown Friends School, which is part of the Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia's Germantown and graduated with the diploma in 1994. Then she attended Harvard College where she earned an Associate of Arts degree in 1998. Welker has been happily married for more than 20 years with John Hughes who is a well known marketing director of Merck Philadelphia. The couple are parents to two children.
